From the Field: Church Plant in Central Africa

In a small village three hours from the nearest city, a church has taken root. Six months ago there were no believers in this community. Today there are forty-two baptized members meeting weekly in a structure built from local materials and the offerings of a handful of supporting churches in the United States.

This is the work of missions. It is slow. It is hard. It is holy.

The Report

The planting team arrived in January with two families and a supply of KJV New Testaments in the local trade language. The first month was spent learning the community — its leaders, its fears, its questions about God. Door-to-door evangelism began in week five.

The first convert was a schoolteacher named Elias. His conversion was public and costly — he lost his position at the government school within a week. He gained a church family and an unshakable faith.
